A discharge releases the debtor from any personal liability associated with dischargeable debts. If a debt has been discharged, the creditors to whom those personal debts are owed are prevented from taking any action against the debtor to collect the debt.
The creditor is not allowed any form of communication with the debtor including phone calls, letters, and personal contact. Basically, the creditor has to stop harassing you because you’ve been released from your debt.
This is the goal of bankruptcy! The discharge is what allows you to keep all of your pay check and modify your monthly bills. Of course, every case is different and you would be well-advised to make an appointment for a free consultation in order to fully understand your situation.
